Taken out of the "STALKER" American DVD Release:
"Memory," a Documentary about Tarkovsky's Home.
It was also one of the few extras of the ITALIAN DVD release... unfortunately my copy doesn't work and I wasn't able to see the documentary in its full lenght.
Anyway: was it filmed by Tarkovsky himself?

I made a little research. It seems that "MEMORY" was the STALKER-inspired film/documentary made by Tarkovsky himself, all centered about his old house. The running time is 5:34.
Somehow I feel "MEMORY" - IF really done by Tarkovsky as many sources reported - should be read as a sort of appendix to "STALKER". The portray of a "psychic" section in the Zone - the cars and the street behind Tarkovsky's house represent just specular projections, mirages, remnants of the "memory" of some visitor who ventured in the Zone in the past. I know it's just a fantastic interpretation, but I like it.

Wow! That is awesome. I'd like to see it. I tell you, this film has made such an impact on me, I don't think any other has had as great impact. Which is your favourite scene? Or scenes? Mine is probably the one where the camera moves across those objects in the water and then comes to that icon. What a scene! And the room is also great, when the scientist talks on the phone.

Every single scene was shocking, wonderful and enduring at the same time... in my case, the first one which comes to mind is the "trance sequence", where the Worm becomes almost an organic "part" of the Zone ----> it is as his mind had been gradually 'swamped' in the sentient energy of that mysterious place.

I have the Ruscico DVD of stalker, and i have either a portion or the whole Memory doc. But from what i remember, it's only a bunch of still shots of his old house...nothing really revelatory there. I'll look at it again, and tell you more.

There should be more of it in the world, in my humble opinion. Ruscico? What is it?

Ruscico = Russian Cinema Council THey're a company (government or private?) that released all of Tarkovsky's filmography in R0 encoding...they're basically Russia's leading film company, along with Kino Video. The funny thing is that they usually have A LOT more extras than the western releases...for Anrei RUblev for instance, the Criterion Edition is fairly limited to a brief commentary and a short interview with Tarkovksy, whereas the Ruscico release has LOADS of extra features, and the transfer is a bit better....
